Public School 105X

CTA completed the design and construction of a new four-story addition at PS 105X in the Bronx. The building is organized as a bar configuration set atop a larger base level, with direct sidewalk access and a centrally located lobby at grade serving as the primary entrance.

The addition includes administrative offices and kindergarten classrooms on the first floor, with 1st through 5th grade classrooms, Special Education classrooms, and dedicated Science, Art, and Music rooms on the upper levels. The third floor is dedicated to D75 instruction, providing specialized educational environments tailored to students with significant challenges.

The new structure was carefully integrated with the existing school at multiple levels. A mid-level connection links the addition to the existing play yard and accessible elevator, while the first floor aligns directly with the existing building. The basement-level cafeteria, located at grade, is accessible from both the new and existing buildings as well as from the lobby. The completed project delivers seamless circulation, improved accessibility, and expanded educational capacity while maintaining operational continuity.
