WHEDco Youth Leadership Center

CTA is engaged in the interior renovation of WHEDco’s Youth Leadership Center in the Bronx. The approximately 2,000-square-foot, two-story facility supports family literacy, Head Start preschool, afterschool and summer youth development, and teen programming. The renovation responds to significant wear from intensive use while reconfiguring existing spaces to better support WHEDco’s current programs.

The project includes targeted modifications to existing partitions and floor levels to create more open, flexible spaces; renovations to the teen lounge, computer lab, kitchenette/gardening area, bathrooms, and support spaces; conversion of the second-floor dance studio into a multimedia classroom; creation of a childcare room and reading nook; and improvements to the Teen Program office and IT area. New durable finishes, flooring, ceilings, plumbing fixtures, storage, signage, window treatments, and flexible furnishings are incorporated throughout, along with lighting controls and technology upgrades. Accessibility and durability improvements are integrated throughout the renovation to create a more functional, welcoming, and adaptable environment for the Center’s varied youth and family programs.
