COMMERCIAL DESIGN

FIRST PARK FOOD KIOSK

HOUSTON STREET & FIRST AVENUE, NEW YORK, NY

Type:

Steel frame and masonry building with copper shingle roof and metal infill panels.

Scope:

Construction of a new 150 square foot building in a New York City park to serve as a food concession operated by a neighborhood resident partnership. The design process included presentation to, and approval by, the New York City Arts Commission and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. The design of the building reflects the diversity of the neighborhood, and the organic roof and ridge line are answers to the Parks Commissioner's desire for 'animal art' in the City parks.
